Last blog of the year!

It’s that time of the year again.  That time when most of us are rushing around in an effort to finish things off, but also the time to reflect on where we’re been, where we’re going and what we value.

This year DPSN made some bold changes in an effort to shake things up and keep you engaged.  We changed our name to Diversity Promotion through Social Networking, and launched ourselves into the public blogosphere.

Since February the new site has seen over 2000 unique hits and our Facebook page has grown to 149 members.  Some of our most popular blogs this year were:

Transexual transgender debate
Discrimination against family carers of disabled people
The language of suffering
Gay parents – harmful upbringing!
Diversity, discrimination and choice

Anna’s touching eulogy to her friend and original DPSN member, Shaun McKinney, who sadly passed away last month, was a favourite for us.

We’ve also seen some very successful blogs from guest bloggers Allyson Hamblett, Ezekiel Robson and Wai Ho.  We’d like to thank them all for their contribution.  Remember, if you’d like to be a guest blogger for DPSN, please get in touch!

DPSN also hosted a second MyFilm screening in May.  You can read more about MyFilm and see the completed films here.  We’re also still looking for participants in our 2013 project, 100 Faces of Diversity!

That’s it from us for now anyway.  We hope you’ve enjoyed our musings on diversity, creativity and social change for the year.  The DPSN team is taking a much needed break over the Christmas period, but we’ll be back up and blogging again in February 2013.

In the meantime, we’ll continue to update our Facebook page from time to time, and you can always contact us at barbara@diversitynz.com or anna@diversitynz.com.  As always, we’ll do our best to get back to as soon as we can.

Take care and have a happy and safe time this holidays.

The DPSN Team – Anna, Barbara and Philip
